Jen is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a unique background of having 25 years of corporate leadership experience before becoming a clinical mental health therapist. She has a generative style that aims to equip clients with personal insights and practical tools to cultivate a sense of hope, healing, growth, and progress - whether individually, in their relationships, or in their careers.
After graduating from Stanford University with a liberal arts degree, Jen spent over twenty-five years in the technology start-up world, leading creative brand teams, driving workplace culture initiatives, and coaching professionals ranging from worker bees to mid-managers to executives and founders.
With experience in a variety of environments (from small family run businesses and tech start-ups, to established brands and non-profits such as eBay, PBS, and the ALS Association), Jen’s passion for people’s growth and resilience led her to earn her Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, TX, a program known for its progressive approach to spirituality in the therapeutic process. She is also trained in journal therapy and EMDR - both evidence-based modalities she uses to support clients in moving past barriers related to past trauma.
Put simply, Jen’s passion is helping individuals and professionals flourish. Her professional experience in demanding, goal-oriented environments, along with her personal life experiences with loss, grief, and post-traumatic growth, culminate in an optimistic and generative therapeutic style. This style aims to foster a practical flavor of hope, healing, and resilience - and resonates well with motivated clients who are open to discovering and trying new tools and ways of thinking and being.
Jen values authenticity, creativity, nature (...ask about the option for outdoor “walk-and-talk” sessions!), and laughter. She believes we all have the potential to create a life with relationships and work that feels purposeful and rewarding—if we’re willing to do the work. Her approach emphasizes the power of HI: human interaction and human inspiration - and a belief that cultivating self-awareness, courage, and human connection is at the heart of well-being at home, at work, and in our communities.
When I‘m not busy helping individuals, leaders, or teams find their way forward towards greater flourishing….Morning coffee and journaling on a front porch, hiking with my sweet rascal of a pup, Henri!, finding the perfect gift for someone, seeing live music, road-tripping, vintage thrifting, and having root-beer taste tests or playing board games (hello Scrabble!) with my three nephews. I also adore being in nature, and am a sucker for all things nostalgic, ranging from drive-in movies, historic B&Bs, and Big Band music. And… I love living life and working alongside people I can LAUGH with!
On a personal note, some things I love…
Welcome to my cozy office…
I hope that you will feel as ‘at home’ and comfortable in my office as I do! However…
If you're an individual therapy client who prefers to meet from the comfort of your own home, virtual sessions are an option too.
If you’re a corporate client who prefers a local coffee shop vibe, the convenience of your office, or the energy of an outdoor 'walk-and-talk' - we can explore those as options.
…the goal is we find whichever environment and setting you feel most comfortable and “true” in.
